Got to tell this story here-
I've always been anal about door dings on my vehicles. From sports cars in my youth to 4WD pickups, I go to great lengths to avoid dings or blemishes of any sort. I have a 3 year old pickup which has been on dirt, gravel roads, through mud bogs, winter ice, etc. and is cosmetically flawless. I allowed my wife to use it for one trip to her mothers so that she could haul back some furniture, and it came back with a huge door ding.
My wife, 'No idea when or how it happened'!! Of course not. If you knew how it happened, you'd avoid it.

Guys around here park diagonally across 2 spaces. Problem solved.

True amongst other things. Depends on the alliances I suppose. Never seen or head of a cross parked car damaged here though. To be fair these are usually large suvs and trucks with egress (lol) issues.
I’m remembering more of that sort of activity in the late 20th Century/early 21st Century. I see less people parking like that now and hear of less keying.

You’ll see nice or unique cars parked slightly further out but squarely in the space. Maybe those jealous/vengeful sorts are taking out their frustrations elsewhere.

Not much anarchy here. (small population) In the 90s I had a small delivery route that went past a guy used to park his Testarossa on the road.
