Many thanks to our host (Daniel) for adding a "Ladies Only" 9-Ball event for the Grand Opening of Future Cues in Temple Texas! I will be assisting him with coordinating, promoting, and directing the ladies event on Saturday October 1st. "Like" his Facebook page and stay tuned... see these websites for further details: www.FutureCues.com and www.WePlayPool.webs.com

The ladies event flyer is attached... or at least I hope it is... I do not post on this forum very much at all... so fingers are crossed that the flyer shows up :)

apa rules

There are plenty of us who would like to play in this tournament especially it being apa rules but the APA Regional is the same weekend. Good luck on your turnout but I think it would be much larger if it was a different weekend.

Wow... this is so awesome... was talking to another player just the other day, we were commenting on how many events are "happening" in Texas now... it reminds me of the 1990's when players could drive in either direction on I-35 and find at least 2 big tournaments to choose from almost every single weekend. Players had to pick one and skip the other, and this was really quite fun because you never knew "who" would show up at the one you picked to play at... and both events would always be full (with players waitlisted) so I am just loving this, to see a resurgence in open tournaments like this again! THANKS to all of the room owners and promoters/directors who are supporting this and making it happen again here in my home state of Texas!!!

Case in point: For the first time in many years, the Texas State Open had FULL fields in both divisions this past weekend... 128 in the Open and 32 in the Ladies :)

The Open Division has been FULL almost every year. Last year was the only one I remember that wasn't full with 119.

Maybe so, but the last three years that I played or attended the TSO, there were byes on both sides... and the ladies has not filled up regularly since the Belinda vs Vivian days. Point is, pool has exploded along I-35 again... and in Houston too... and I'm loving it, even though its usually everyone else who is out there playing now, instead of me :( At least you stream it to me, when I ever find the time to watch, that is!

Ahh sorry diddnt know regionals were that weekend or I would have moved it back a week. Too late now though :(

Really wish you guys could have attended, but maybe it will work out better this way. With as many people as I've talked to about this tourney I got the feeling it is going to be full, or real close to full. I'd hate to have a bunch of people wanting to play and not be able to accommodate them. A 64 player bracket is going to be pushing it already with us starting so late.

Maybe the APA players can make it to one of the regular weekly tourneys, or the next monthly. We add $100 every Friday & Saturday for regular tourneys, and the last Saturday of every month will be our monthly, and we will add all the money collected from the raffle.

Anyway, I'm sure we'll get to meet eventually. Good luck on regionals!

I hate to be negative

If you do get a 64 field, I don;t think there is any possible way to finish in one night. What's the backup plan if you don't finish by 3 AM?

The races are short, and we have 12 7' tables the tourney is reserved on. I'll also open up the 9' tables to those who would prefer that to help speed it along.

Anyway I ran a simulator with a 64 player bracket saying each 9-ball game takes 8 minutes and on just 12 tables Ingen says we should finish by 1:30. With the 9' tables we can get through the first 3 rounds even quicker.

If we do have some hiccups I won't shut the place down till we are finished. No worries about that. I've taken every precaution to make sure it runs as smoothly as possible, and we will most definitely finish the same night.

I have bad news :( We will not be opening Sept. 26th as planned due to circumstances beyond our control. I believe that we should be able to open the doors on Thursday the 29th of September. For now I am going to assume the grand opening tournaments on Friday and Saturday (30th & 1st) are still on schedule. I will have more info in a couple days. If for some reason we are delayed further I will immediately post more info here to inform everyone. Again I am very sorry for the unforeseen delay. If I am forced to cancel the tournaments on the 30th & 1st, I will reschedule them for the following weekend (Oct 7th & 8th). Stay posted here for more info, or your welcome to call me at 254-291-2526 to check on opening status. Thanks again for your support, we are working diligently to provide you with the venue in the area.

Sept 30th & Oct 1st $500 Added Tournaments are Postponed. I found out this morning that the contractors may or may not finish Thursday, apparently they are running into complications that is taking longer than anticipated. It is not fair to our customers to keep them guessing if we will have the tournaments or not, and it definitely would not be fair if I had to cancel them the day before they were supposed to happen. Therefore the tournaments on Sept 30th and Oct 1 are now postponed. I should be able to reschedule both of the $500 added tournaments for the following weekend (Oct 7th & 8th). I will keep everyone updated. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I think it's better this way. I don't want to keep you guys guessing, and I don't want to cancel on you last moment.

I'll post a new tournament thread as soon as I have more info.
