GC1 Table Restoration Complete

I think im suffering from whats called in sports psychology as “reinvestment theory”. Its been so long since I played that when I approach a shot my mind is trying to focus on too many things at once. My bridge, the pressure of the bridge the distance from my stance and legs to the table, my upper arm being locked and keeping a pendulum with my forearm, the grip on the butt of the cue being loose, staying down on the ball all of these things I’m thinking about at the same time and it results in me not being able to shoot at all. I’ll get my game back just may take a little longer than expected.

Ultimately, when I’m playing this bad, I can’t really tell if the table is performing well or not.
Just try to relax and let that old muscle memory find its way home. Get out of your head. All that's going to do is hinder the process.

interesting little piece of information. When I was getting ready to take the pocket castings and the feet to the powder coater, I noticed on the underside of one of the corner pocket castings it was engraved with a date of 11-22-63. That’s the exact same day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. I don’t know what that date refers to, if it’s when the pockets were created or when the mold itself was made I’m not sure, but it was interesting.

Never mind how good or bad you are playing. Have fun and enjoy that table

I wasn’t planning on making a restoration thread so I didn’t take detailed photos of all the work as it progressed, but I’m going to post everything I have.

Having said that, I want to express my sincere appreciation to Rexus (Scott) for his patience and willingness to answer my many questions throughout this process. I’m sure those who know him are already well aware of his character and the kind of person he is, but I’d like to take a moment to reaffirm that. Scott, thank you again for all your support. It’s truly appreciated.

Now, on to the table itself. While it may not be a showroom-quality restoration, I’m genuinely pleased with how it turned out, especially considering this was my first experience restoring a Gold Crown. As far as the k55 cushions, it doesn’t bother me regarding the pitch and angle of the cushions to the table. After playing on it that may change, but I can also fix it in the future if I decide it needs it. It’s been a learning experience, and overall, I’m proud of the results.

GC1 Table - $700
Simonis 860 - $300
K55 Cushions + all labor - $500
Paint + Powder Coating - $350
Decals - Made with Cricut - N/A
Meucci Shaft Reduction - $50

With table completion and cue work, I’m all in for $1900. I’m satisfied with that. I do wish it had the skirts and a ball return, so if anyone has any leads, please let me know.

Man that table looks GREAT .. you did a fantastic job on it .. I love these old gold crowns and may be embarking on this same journey with one soon
