I just had a herniated disk removed from my neck and i was wondering if anyone else had this done. if so, how long did it take you to get back to playing?

pain in the neck

I had material removed in my neck. The doc out bone and gristle. I have a dent my thumb lays in. I wasen't allowed to do much of anything for a few weeks. All in all, it took about three months to work my way back "down". I had to settle for a stance a couple inches higher than I used to like but I'm playing. Good Luck.

AHHHHHHH HAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Proof that Peyton Manning posts in here!

I heard it was 4 surgeries tho...

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I had a fusion on C4-5-6 9yrs ago. I wasn't playing pool at the time but I think it was over 6 months before the doc told me I was good to go and do most anything.

I have to limit practice to about 2 hours as usually I will get headaches from the constantly tilting my head back. It takes much longer for a headache to develop when playing someone so, that's usually not an issue.

BTW the correction/fusion for my herniated disk did nothing to correct the problem of compressing nerves going to my right arm and hand. (pain and atrophy) Wish you better results.

the pain and numbness to my left arm seems to be gone already, and i just had the surgery yesterday. the head positioning issue when leaning down on a shot is my biggest concern.
