Brunswick has a table called a "Gibson". Love it. I saw it on TV in a women's pro event. Is this table kind of like its grandpa?

Absolutley not! lol They just don't make them like they use to....as the saying goes. Obviously they make more tables these days than they did back in the old days. The workmanship back then was better I think. Maybe because with making less tables, they were able to have better quality control.
I like seeing the differences they have made over the years..........you see things they use to do on a table, that they don't do anymore because they found an easier or better way. Or somethings that were ahead of their time and are still used to this day. It is like look at a piece of time..........and seeing what they thought back then about tables. And the quality they use to care about!

Thanks, I'm in the housing industry and know what you mean when you say some methods survive time because its just the best way, or others are done away with for methods that are cheaper or better. I'm always disappointed when I see changes that sacrifice quality for cost. Pretty soon we'll be building disposable houses where you just bulldoze 'em and build new after they start falling apart :( . Hope pool tables don't go that way.

It already is.
Look how many of those crappy imported tables are sold on Fleabay.
That's why I bought a 60's Gold Crown. Built like a freakin' tank.
Of course, there are still great ones left like Gabriels and Diamond.

Similar frame on mine as your GC frame......might even be the same. The GC 4 is made pretty good. That is a very nice solid table. The improvements they made from the 3 made them just as good as the Diamond. Here is the improvement they made in the corner casting connection.........

They pinched as many pennies as they could on the GC 3....................the 4's have those 2 barrel style nuts that hold each side alot stronger than the lead inserts on the 3's.

And the slate level system they have works nice.....and solid!
