Getting spotted balls..sometimes aint enough!!

3 out with a Handspan

I had a guy once joke around with me about getting a huge spot. So I told him, "you can get the 3-out if I get the handspan" (I can move the cueball at any time a maximum of one width of my handspan).

He got drilled. :D

He then said, "give me the handspan and I will play you even". He got it, and got drilled some more. LOL!

That's my point here. Some guys do nothing but sit around and think up crafty spots to unleash on the unsuspecting. Trust me, I worked in a few rooms and I've seen a million strange games made. I have taken weight before, but it was either a ball/break/wire or number of balls in 14.1. Every time I saw a fish take a gaff bet they got beat. They always said the same thing.....I NEVER thought He could give me that much weight and win.

I'm all for making a fair game with a spot, but MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THE RAMIFICATIONS OF THE SPOT! before you lose your hard earned money.

It was a joke in the beginning, cause this guy always say that he has a bunch of money, I thought he would quit after 1 or 2 games, but he kept on doubling up and buying me beer, so I did'nt let him win a games cause I knew that once he wins a game he'll quit on me.

1) Never give the opponent the breaks.
2) Never give the opponent ball in hand after the break.
3) Never give away your cash. (unless you would like to donate to the VA or Red Cross etc.) and make the match so tight on the other guy he has to go through hell to win.

Do whatever you can to never give the opponent the break(s). Even a player that is less of a player than yourself.. nine on the snap means you lose.

Ball in hand after the break...any real good player will runout often on a wide open rack if he has ball in hand and if the rack isn't that good he will play safe's on you and get ball in hand again and again!

There are two kinds of gamblers:
Ones that win and ones that lose. It's up to you.
 
you were spotting him- you must be a great player then! lessoned learned-maybe you can get a sucker with the same spot someday. Probablly not, but you never know. :p
