Some great ideas here from lots of different people. I still believe IMO the starting place may not be schools, rather getting school kids involved. However 'we' need help from people to get this started, from Pool Room Owners, suppliers etc. If one of the major organisations, BCA for instance, could make this a major initiative I believe it could work. How about Sunday mornings or early afternoons at your local pool hall?
It is unfortunate but a lot of the negative comments and stereotypes about pool mentioned here are still apparent today. What we need to do is change peoples (the general publics) attitude towards pool, you will never get a lot of kids involved if parents are uncomfortable with it. How do we do that? It starts with several things:
Individual responsibility, if you see something that's out of order, say something don't just let it go.
We need more and better exposure for the game from the top down. The Pro game needs it's biggest and best events televised live, thats something promoters and organisations have to take on.
But if something is going on in your area contact your local media outlets and let them know about it. Let them know that you want to hear it, see it, or read about it in your local paper, local radio or TV station.
It is in everyone's best interests to get as many people involved in and playing the game as they possibly can.
