I'm trying to find a girl in the US who speaks Chinese who is involved in the WPBA qualifying tour.

The reason is to help one of the Chinese girls who will come over to try to qualify. Basically her English is not so good yet, so she needs a travel partner and organizer.

If anyone knows anyone, please connect them to me.

Thanks,
Colin

Thanks 647,
Preferably we need a Chinese who is familiar with the WPBA and getting around in the states. I could get girls in China here who speak English well enough to escort her, but they may get lost in the US :(

She's cute,from China?

Well im glad to see Colin spending his time for girls who are interested in the WPBA,and guide them all the way.

Keep up the good work Colin Colenso.

I don't speak Chinese but I am willing to teach her english.

If that won't work I could alsway ask around for'ya. I might know a few people.

It might help if you email me directly, tell me the circumstances and if I find someone that can help I will give them your info or you theirs.

It might be important to know how well she can play. What's her resume look like?

I gave her a few drills and played with her quite a few times.

About the only coaching I offered was to keep her head more still. But her fault was minor and she has very good technique. Has been playing 6-8 hours per day for years. When Chinese decide to go pro at something, it is a job. So from 15 years of age, she has been 100% committed to the game.

Hard to match up against that. On her own table she rarely misses an out.

One day I played her 8 games and had two shots. Twice she fell out of position and hooked me. I got out of the hook both times but left her on and she ran out. The 6 other games were break and run.

She's always very polite when she plays...great girl :-)

Would Ga Young Kim be a possibility perhaps?

Just a suggestion...maybe someone could contact her and see.

She knows Kim as they've played in several events together and Kim speaks pretty good Chinese, having spent a couple of years in Taiwan climbing the ranks.

Actually Kim beat her in the World Champs semi-final this year

These days Kim is on the main tour so probably couldn't help much...not too mention she's a very busy girl herself these days.

But I'd like to hear from Kim and get her suggestions as she went through this process a couple of years ago. I heard she roomed with another girl who was doing the qualifying tour.

If you find her, tell her I'll trade room and board/english lessons for light "household duties" and pool lessons.

That would be Jeannie Seaver but she doesn’t speak Chinese. At the time Kim spoke a little English, and now perhaps better, but it still made for some communication problems. In my mind Jeannie proved to be a gracious host to Kim as they traveled and roomed together.

Yes, that's the story I was told. Ideally Angela would want to find someone like Jeannie who speaks Chinese as well. A tough ask, but never know.

I met Kim just before she went to the US and her English was passable...good enough to get by. Angela still has a way to go to catch up to her but is having regular lessons.

Another option is that Angela could bring a translator and board with a touring qualifier, sharing expenses for travel.

Chinese girl

Hey how about Ming Ng? SHe isn't full time wpba and she knows how it all works. SHe's is also chinese. SHe is living in florida right now...

Colin,

Basically all she has to do to join a Regional Tour ( and she can join more than one) and play to win a qualifier.

Ga Young traveled around with Jeannie Seaver from the Spirit Tour. How about Jennifer Chen? Can anyone get in touch with her?

I had the pleasure of watching her play here last December at the World Championships and I was very impressed by her level of play. She played some unbelieveable safeties. I was quite surprized by a few of the Asian women. The women on the WPBA had better look out when she and some of the others hit town.
Colin, I may not know about global economics but I do know that girl has got game!!!!!
