Giving Money Back To An Opponent

So, some years ago, I needed to make some money. I called up one of my backers and we hit the road. Not really the road but rather local known action spots. We end up at a bar I used to frequent. Ran into a VERY good friend of mine . We start out at $10 a game. Ended up $120 a game BBC 9 ball. We ran up a HUGE bar tab as normal for us lol. Anyway we won about $800. I suggested we pay the bar tab. My boy that I was there with wasn't happy but we did. I picked up a girl that was gonna take care of all three of us - lol don't ask. Anyway when it was all said and done, my friend that we had beaten out of the money left his $2k cue in my other buddies car and he ended up holding it hostage for half the bar bill. Pool players are a different breed lol.

I have given money back. Just so I could quit playing. Kinda why I don't like to gamble. Guess your not allowed to quit ahead.

That is definitely true. Done that more than once or twice when they threw a fit about me quitting up. Just said "Don't worry about paying me." Not worth the argument. Won't gamble with them anymore.

I've been given small amounts back by two player who are much better than me. It must have been so egregiously unfair in their eyes, or they admired my passion for the game (I like to think it's the latter).

I've also given cash back once in a bar game because this poor guy scratched on the 8 in the first game, and I had to leave right then. Didn't want to ruin his night over 5 bucks. I guess I'm a softy...
