Glass City Open

I am definitly going to go and watch. Anyone can go to www.glasscityopen.com to see the list of players entered into the tournament.

The only draw back to being a spectator at this event is that what anyone would consider general seating is actually VIP seating. General seating is at the far end of room with only good viewing of the end tables. Last year I attended the tournament to watch, with little fan participation and the general admission patrons sat in the "vip" section and was asked to leave by security and to sit at the far end of the room. To little avail the General admin fans stood there ground and sat in the "vip" seats. I hope the Glass city open this year will learn there lesson and get rid of the bogus seating arrangements.

I just looked at the list and noticed Basavich is in twice. That would be funny if he had to play with himself for the first round!

im playing perk and one of your michiganders that are in it came down and played at our local tourny b.a. Aro you going to be there?

No, I am not going to make it, but I think the Michigan guys will do well. There are 3 that stick out in my mind that could potentially finish quite well. John Binion, Brandon Ashcraft, and Jason Kirkwood. There are a few others that I see on the list, but I think these three standout of the pack a bit.

Good luck, hope ya do well.

Over 40, i'll be playing in the open this year, i won a local qualifier it's my first time i'm a little nervous but will see what happens. I'm glad to see people talking about the open on here, i'm glad to see it back after being gone all those years (but that's another story). The thing i'm looking foward to the least is if i draw another local i could go play at the poolroom, but those are the chances you take! Some one mentioned the seating being bad i agree with that. I guess they are suppose to do something about it though this year. What i don't know the space is just to small for the tournament.

This happens way to much at regional or state type tourneys. The organization Eagles has tourneys here in Michigan where they have a type of seeding that you will not be in the same bracket as the members of your local organization. This is pretty good idea, and it goes over well for their organization. Obviously you may play late in the tourney, but you dont have to worry about a 1st or 2nd round match with your partner or teamates...

I cant get there till Saturday morning, anyone know what will be happening at that stage?

There is a players meting tonight I will try to post a thread to tell what the schedule is..

That would be sweet Candyman. I wonder how many of the players will head over to Hall of Fame and play the Thursday Open tourney, or pop in. In the past a few of the pros have. Everything depends on their scheduling etc.
