Gloves and Carbon fiber shafts

I did not use a glove when I played for 20 years in IL. with maple.
I did not use a glove for 10 years in AZ playing with both maple and CF.
After a few months here in TN, I bought a glove. The humidity got so high on occasion that I was only able to play with an open bridge.

If you are using a CF shaft and a glove I find it odd that certain players feel the need to constantly wipe down their shafts with a towel.
Maybe it’s like chalking. With these new soft chalks you don’t need to chalk after every shot. I’ve been chalking once a game for years but some people it’s just what they do every shot . It’s their routine.

I have used a glove since they came to the market, probably since from the turn of millennium. I have quite sweaty hands and the glide is not a problem a bit of wiping or talcum couldn't resolve, but for me it's the inconsistency in gliding/friction is the key element I fight against using a glove. I want to have a consistent gliding and friction despite the humidity or how dirty the shaft is. Additionally, I think in the good ol' days pool was much more of power game, you were punching hard shots and "pushing through" the shaft friction, but nowadays the cloths are slippery and shots are much more delicate and therefore any issues with shaft friction and gliding problems have more effect on the shot: both real effects and psychological ones, I'd say.
