Glue Opinions

I posted a while back about joint pin glue, and thanks for all your responses. I am searching for opinions on which type of glue for Short Spliced Points - Ring Billets - Inlays. I am using Yellow Glue (Tightbond II) for all of them, and have noticed sometimes they will raise more than they use to. I used West Systems last time on a butterfly short splice, and some short spliced point forearms, and they seem to be really good (not raising). Just getting opinions and preferences. Thanks in advance for your responses.

I use west system for gluing in the points into v-grooves. I also use west system for gluing ring billets. I use two ton devcon epoxy for gluing in inlays. Remember when using west system to let the glue set in the slots or v-grooves for a few minutes. If not, sometimes the material will soak it up and leave none on the suface to hold the glue bond.

Is it reasonable to use Devcon 2 ton glue for Joint rings, ferrules, buttcaps and pins???

It would be nice to be able to use just one (1) glue for all these tasks!?!?

Jimmy...i have seen a lot different guys using west systems with a lot of success and very minimum failures...

sorry Ken..one glue for everything is a nice thought but doesnt seem to be the best way for cues with whats out there right now......

i cant remember who, but someone was using gorilla glue for joint pins and handles and was very happy with the results there too.....

I use TightBond for veneers on points and West System for everything else.

Yes, that glue would work fine for any of those applications.

Problem with using really strong epoxy for ferrules is, you can't heat up the ferrule to remove it later on without blow torching it. Epoxy is also heavier than glue.
I like Titebond II for ferrules.

Two ton stays wet too long for ferrule work as it will stain the shaft giving that small brown ring behind the ferrule. It works great for everyhting else you mentioned and is what I use for those operations. I use Devcon 5 minute for ferrules.

I've been using a brand of epoxy called Power Poxy...it comes in 8 oz. tubs and dries crystal clear...so far it hasn't let me down and I use it for everything except tips...Titebond's Neoprene Plus is what I plan to use for leather wraps when I get that far in my cue making....which isn't too far off....
