Going to Australia, any interesting wood I can bring home? I am partial to burls and ""Rosewoods"

There are lots of unique indigenous species. No Rosewoods in Australia though. But you can find some amazing woods and burls. How readily available they are when you're on a visit I can't comment on.

Try looking for Vasticola Burl. It's gorgeous. 👍

Check with US Customs. Maybe the USDA. While I was in the service we worked for them as customs and border clearence augmentees. You'd be amazed at how high some standards are. Troops could only bring back wood that was encased in acrylic unless it was military equipment they had brought with them or purchased as a "military necessity". My best advice is not to go over and buy wood without knowing if you can import it to the US.

I know nothing about the laws over there but you might be able to just mail some to yourself the day before you come back. I've never had wood from overseas shipped to me but had plenty of rough gems mailed to me.

Got some Mallee burl wood, I think my cue maker can get two handles out of these, one pure red and the other one with two tone color
