Going to Brookline, Mass...where can I play?

And while Bostonians are making recommendations, I'll be in Boston next Thursday night, staying near Copley. Is Boston Billards Club still the place to go? Anybody want to shoot?

I won't have a car so I will be dependent on public transportation.
Anywhere nice to play?
ruk

Others will chime in for places to actually play, but if you want the high-end upscale "billiard establishment" that have no equal in the real world with entirely too much emphasis on other things not pool-related, then I suggest to make your way to Jillians at Fenway. Don't bother bringing your cue or any idea of actually playing pool.

There are Jillians now all across the country, with several in New England. There isn't another Jillians that compares to the Jillians in Boston. They even have their own separate and aren't listed on the Jillians website. Maybe they're no longer really affiliated???

I've been to most of the other Jillians, and when I stepped into the Fenway Jillians, I was speechless.

In that neck of the woods I would say Boston Billiards is still the way to go. Brighton billiards has closed down. You might be able to take a bus to Somerville and visit Good Time Emporium, an old-style joint with about 72 tables in mediocre shape and free pool until 6pm. I recommend visiting it just because you run into some incredible players on occasion. Also, in Cambridge, there is Flat Top Johnny's, which has as nice monday night 9-ball tourney.

In addition to the others mentioned, there is Renaissance Billiards in downtown Quincy. It is a bit of the trip from Brookline...

green line to Park Street Station Upper... walk downstairs to Park Street Station Lower... take Red Line Braintree train to Quincy Center station ... walk about 10 minutes to Renaissance.

Boston Billiards is closer obviously.
