One thing that I have not seen mentioned in this thread in regards to "where to stay" is that the monorail system has a stop at the Westgate (formerly the Las Vegas Hilton). A player could stay farther out on the strip and ride the monorail in. The monorail has stations as far out as the MGM with stops at a lot of the hotels in between. You can get a 24 hour pass cheaper than one cab ride.

My 9 ball team qualified yesterday. Have to go the long route for 8 ball in the losers bracket 2 weeks from now. Made reservations at Westgate a little over a month ago figuring I would just go and shoot minis if we didn't make it. We have been there before for fun and were able to get a few $25 dollar nights, a few free and some at regular price, along with a free room upgrade. I was told that there was a magic convention going on at the same time as the 9 ball events so things were filling quickly. Everyone should use the monorail if you can. It may be cheaper to rent a car for the week than take 2 cab rides a day. The cab fares have been crazy there in my experience.
 
I'll be out there for the Masters tourney, the 18-21st. I'd like to hit some with a few AZers.

Well doesn't look like I'm gonna make Vegas, own a bread delivery route guy that I was gonna hire to work for me backed out.. Think I'm screwed.
 
Qualified this past weekend in 8ball. Be at the Westgate from the 15-23rd.
Hope to meet up with few of you guys.
 
Congrats on you and your team winning a trip to Vegas. That is really great, and I am very jealous, lol. The only year that I was in the APA (back in 2002, when I had just turned 21), my team made it to the finals of the regional qualifiers, and lost both the 8 ball and 9 ball (in the finals). It was so sad. Got beat by the same Cape Girardeau, so that team won a trip to Vegas in both the 8 ball and 9 ball divisions. Good for them, and so sad for our team. I went to Vegas just to play in the mini tournaments that year though (and I won 6 out of 7 mini tournaments in the 4 days I was there). Really had a great time. I always wanted to go back. I really miss competing in Vegas. Strongest 5's 6's and 7's that I have ever seen (I went as a 5, by the way). Anyway, good luck in Vegas. Hope you do good, and have a great time.
