Hello All,

I have a gold crown 1 with the large counters all the wheels spin and click off one number at a time except for one that spins freely.

I was wondering if it is easy to pull the wheels out to look it over to see what the problem might be. The rail is off so at least I have access to the underside.

Also would wd40 help them a bit?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Allen

I believe that one of the metal prongs that puts pressure on the wheel from underneath is broken off. You can buy a replacement one that should not be expensive at all and pretty easy to install if the rail is still off. Call Ken Hash from his # listed from his website at classicbilliards.net. Good luck

If you flip the rail over you'll see the counter is held in by 2 allen screws, one on each side. Take those out and the counter will slide out through the top of the rail. Each set of 2 counters has one spring steel piece that puts pressure on the wheels to hold them at each number. Small phillips screws hold them in place. Your 'free spooling' one is likely broken on that side, or at least cracked, and not putting pressure on the wheel. You can try tightening the screw in case it has loosened, but the piece probably needs to be replaced. It is common, and easy to do yourself.

Thank you

Thanks you folks for the info I just looked into the counter and can see I have a broken metal thing that puts spring like pressure on the plastic roller the other counters all have and my broken one does not. I'll try to find one and it does look like an easy fix.

when you put it back together, add some grease to the spring pads where they contact the counter wheels.

Well I took them apart and sure enough the metal thing that puts pressure on the plastic wheel was broken. I cut a strip from a spring clip and bent it drilled a hole in it and after three attempts got it to work perfectly. Added a little grease and now they all work like new.

THANK YOU ALL

Allen
