Gold crown 1 slate question

Hello I purchased a gold crown 1 and noticed the slate has 1955 hand written on the wood supports. Did Brunswick have slate that old laying around or is the 1955 not a date. The table is complete very little staple scars so I might assume it was in private ownership as a pool hall would of put on more felt over the years.

Thank you for any help you can provide,

Allen

it was likely someone just marking them to keep them together, much better then what some guys do by using a chalk on the slate and then it disappearing. Backer boards should have been left on slate fyi

backer boards

They were like that when I bought it. had a few screws missing. I'll put it together correct.

So you don't think the 1955 was a date just a number system someone used. I pretty sure the slate is from a gold crown 1 because it has the cutouts for the score keepers on the foot side. Every number I have found so far matches up.
