What is your preference and why?

What are the good and bad points of these tables?

Not trying to start a war just want some opinions. Thanks, Travis

I would go with Diamond although i love Olhausen tables too, hard choice. Diamond i would have to say. I love the way the new Olhausen tables look man that is awesome but i love the pockets on the Diamond pro tables. The action fast rails on the Olhausen are really good, sheesh IDK man........lol

Sorry for that lol, did i sound like a kid at a candy shop that can't make up his mind lol. Something about billiards that gets me that way.

I got it online at the site I linked. i'm building the room now, so when it's done I'll let you know......Yea the table is a direct copy of a GC. Honestly I tried to find a used Crown locally with no luck. Then I went to the local dealer and they were complete asses! I could buy 3 of these Boston tables for what they wanted for a GC4. I wanted to give my business to Brunswick, but paying 3 times over for thier name is silly. I've worked on Crowns for years, end this Boston table is solid as any of them even with the new Brazilian slate.....

Hey Gerry,

I've been looking at these tables too. They 'LOOK' good, wonder how they 'PLAY', the construction looks pretty sturdy. Can't beat that price though! Be sure to give us a full review...

Happy Hittin'

Should have my space ready by this summer...enjoy it!

As for The Poll:

I too, have a soft spot for Crowns...but they're so expen$ive!

The Olhausen plays great, I'd want a Champion Pro, (like the arched leg)...but they're pricey to, and maybe to commercial for the house

The Diamond is a great mix of the two, Classic style, Great playability, lots of wood/stain options, and priced reasonably...

Yeah I've seen those tables and they seem like a great deal. Only one thing about the construction that makes me wonder....they have no supports in the middle....looking at the construction pics, it looks like something that could be easily done (either by them or the owner of the table). Once you get it please post up your impressions of how it plays. The price on it is great.

I have ACCESS to 25 Gold Crowns, they are GREAT, but I hear the Diamond Tables are the Pinical of Pool Tables Excellance. mever Played on a Diamond, don't have room for my in my place so why worry...

I'll let you all know. I talked to the people at Boston tables, and they were real nice, and answered all my questions.

$60 to felt the rails at the factory
$175 for Simonis
$100 for packing the table for shipping

and some nice goodies thrown in like a table cover, set of balls, brushes,

So for $3335 delivered, I can't turn that down....

That alone puts them well ahead of the Brunswick dealers I've dealt with, and is the reason I got an Olhausen.

One thing you might think about are the pocket sizes you want. If you want 4.5 inch corners and 5 inch sides, they should be able to cut the cushions to length so that shims aren't needed. They might even be able to give you a specific shelf width, though that's less likely.

Best table

Gold Crown 1 or Diamond / Green cloth, level and very clean...
good enough for me!

I did talk to one guy who plays on these tables at a pool room. He said the corners are pretty snug at about 4-1/2 to 4-5/8. My last Gold Crown had triple shims and played too tough for a practice table IMO, but perfect for 1 pocket:) I thought having a real tite table would be good for my game.....not the case....made me too apprehensive.

This is what I don't like about real tight tables. There are a lot of shots I'll play on a GCIV that I won't go for on a diamond because they have to be hit hard along the rail, or hard into the side from an angle, and they're just too likely to rattle and stay up on a tight table. The fact that I can't have confidence to play those shots hurts my pattern play, and my positional play, because it totally changes the range of options I have on any given shot.

What I'd like most is a table with very tight pockets and very shallow shelves, so that you have to be very accurate to hit the pocket opening, but if you do hit it, you can count on it to drop. Anyone know what table plays most like that?

I've wondered why they don't just split the difference between the WPA table regs and the BCA table regs and have 4 9/16" corner pockets with 1 1/2" shelf and 5 1/16" side pocket with 0"- 1/4" shelf , all measurements +1/16th and just call that standard for everybody. I like shallow shelf tables too, you don't get anywhere near as many jawwed balls or balls popping out as much.
