I just dealt with this same issue. I bought a roll of solid rubber cord off ebay and cut it down to fit in there. Worked great and a lifetime supply is less than 10 bucks lol.
I bought mine at Classic Billiards. Kinda stupid priced at $3 each plus shipping but they are the real deal and should be good for a few decades.

I think 1/4" but it doesn't say on my order history form ebay so I am not positive on that.
Has there ever been a double sided floor standing example of one of these racks for sale??? Im just curious what the value might be, they seem to be as rare as hens teeth with gold fillings.
