Gold Crown III makeover

Thank you for that. So when I am ready to re-cloth, leave the facings longer past the Featherstrips groove for the side pockets. Hopefully the next time this table needs cloth I could get you to do it. There is a good mechanic on the Island but he did not know about the subrail extensions when I talked to him on the phone. I figured I would be better to do this myself. But a trip over here may be worth your effort. There has just been a pool hall opened on the other side of he island and from the looks of it they are all Gold Crown III tables. It is only 13 or 14 tables, but it would sure make a difference in the quality of play

Very nice looking table, I hope you enjoy it. You did a fantastic job with the rail extensions and recovering the table!!! I would be proud to call that my table.:bow-down:

Thank you, it was a great experience, fun to say the least, and a great reward in the end. Now I got my practice table the way I want.

Table

You better hide because now everyone is going to want to hire you to work on their table.
Run and hide!

You did good, this section has a lot of golden info about the GOLD CROWN. The good stuff is buried deep within and difficult to find. You did a great job at collecting your info.
Keep reading up, you'll find more golden info such as; use spray adhesive to adhere the front side of the pocket cuff to the cloth flap and you'll have no wrinkles there/stretch under and staple...

Edit ' now that I look those might not be wrinkles.. Those are nail heads:D

Cheers'

I didn't have much extra cloth to do the pocket finishing the way I wanted so I used thumbtacks, some pipe hanger and glued the cloth to it, fit them to the pockets and let it go. I know it's not the professional way to do it, but I like that better then just gluing some strips in there under the cloth. Next time I cover the table I will try to make it better. Live and learn I guess, if I never f-up and don't know I f- up then I never learn

BTW. I would never think of charging someone to this work, there is no way I could bill for all them hours. I don't know how you guys do it.

Aloha

Actually I am looking for a ball return, the problem is I live in Hawaii and the shipping on it will be about the price of the return and ball box...

But shoot me what you got. Let me know what you want for it. I was also wondering if anybody has any experience with leather pockets for this table. Seen a couple different ones online but just wondering how they hold up.

Leather pockets on a GC.....? Install the GC4 drop pockets, make sure you get the good replacement pockets..stay away from the budget priced pockets.

Best of luck

Hood leather makes some so I hear, and Classic Billiards sells different leather pockets. I just didn't want to test a $300 dollar theory. Just thought someone on here must have tried this before.

They look like the drop pockets but I was hoping they would be quiter and keep the balls a little cleaner.

I have considered the GC4 pockets, but I will wait to see if anybody has feedback on leather pockets.

Aloha

Why do so many people take the ball returns off of their GCs and install drop pockets??????? As many drop pocket GCs as I see out there there must be a boat load of gulleys laying around collecting dust unless everybody threw them away.
