Gold Crown III Metal Refinished

I recently purchased a GC III that had been well used in a pool hall for many years. It mostly cleaned up very nice and was structurally in good shape, but the finish on most of the metal parts was tarnished or rubbed off.
While the table was being moved, I removed the metal parts and took them to a shop that does metal refinishing. All of the original finish was bead blasted off and then the parts were refinished with a very durable baked on coating. The coating is the same as used on many handguns and rifles with a proven resistance to cleaners, abrasion, and chipping.
I had this done for all pockets, score keepers, ball holder frame, and nameplate. The score keepers came apart easily so I was able to clean up the plastic parts and get them working again. In hindsight, I should have done the feet too but too late now.
I’m really happy with the results.
If anyone is interested in getting this done for their table, let me know and I will put you in touch with the shop. Price was very reasonable and the work was complete in a single day so it didn’t delay getting the table setup at my house.
Here are a few pictures of the metal work.

I'm interested in doing something similar to my anniversary. How much did it cost. I had quotes around $500 to polish. I can't pull the trigger at that price, even if the outcome is good. I started doing the work myself, but at my current pace I will likely die (from using my wife's parking space for the restoration) well before this table is done:wink:

I understand the time situation. I only had a few days available between disassemble and installation so that it didn't upset the table mechanics. I considered doing it myself but didn't have the equipment or trust my know how to do it right. I wanted it to last another 20 years.
To do all of the metal including the pockets, counters, nameplate, and ball holder frame was $250. That included bead blasting everything to bare metal and application of some sort of baked on ceramic coating. I dropped it all off in the morning and it was ready that same afternoon. You would likely have the shipping delay but should be minimal.
I disassembled the plastic parts and springs from the counter myself so the shop only had to deal with the metal housing. Cleaning and reassembly was very easy.
I spoke to the shop owner and he indicated that if he knows it is incoming, he could likely schedule the same quick turnaround.
I chose a specific color that he already had in inventory and that went well with the polished bump strip. I also chose a slightly matte finish, but he can add a more gloss finish also. He can do it in a wide variety of colors but it would have delayed a couple days for him to order the material.
Feel free to contact the shop directly at 336-705-8967. Ask for Phil Lilly. He can explain all of the different choices you have.
