GOLD CROWN ONE plastic aprons

I have a 1962 Gold Crown One table that I redid it in black enamel and stained the solid hardwood rounded vertical edges in the bases in a reddish maple stain. Looks awesome, but it's missing one thing. The plastic aprons that cover the ball returns.

I have the opportunity to buy a set online, but have never seen them mounted on any GCI so have a few questions. Not sure if the seller has any mounting hardware (he doesn't know much about them either).

How do they mount under the table? Directly to the underside of the wood aprons or to the frame? Do they mount with wood screws or with some type of bracket like the corner brackets on the wooden apron?

I would appreciate any information that could be provided. If someone has a GCI and could take a picture or two of the underside of the aprons well that would also be greatly appreciated.

I'm hoping to keep a complete and accurate version of this original tournament table.

Plastic aprons

I just downloaded the original GC 1 owners manual. Ain't the internet a *****. I understand a bit more from this. Any other infor will be appreciated, thanks.

They use wood screws to attach to the rail apron and also machine nut and bolt in each corner. I have never tried to put them on after the table was assemble but would imagine to be difficult. It is easy enough to take the aprons off, attach the skirts and reinstall as a unit.

Plastic aprons on drop pocket tables?

Tim you may be right. The online manual I printed only has a section on aprons for tables without the ball return box. The section with the ball return box isn't included in the download (page 16 of the 1961 manual)

I think you're right because the plastic aprons may just be addeded to hide the bottom of the drop pockets?? The plastic apron at the ball return box doesn't look like it would fit. Since I don't have the part and have yet to see plastic aprons on a GCI with ball return I'm still in the dark here. Anyone with photos of a GCI with plastic aprons and a ball return please post it.

Interestingly the undersides of my wooden aprons do show where plastic aprons had been screwed in so maybe somebody changed it to having a ball return with different pockets at a later date.

I have a few sources to ask about this in town. Still several days before the auction ends for these aprons.

GCI photo

Disregard my last post, problem solved. Just saw a picture of a restored GCI on classic billiards website with ball return and plastic aprons. Thanks to those who helped me figure this out.

Any pics of your GC1. Would like to see it.

Turk's photo request

PM me your email address and I'll send pictures. For some reason (probably file size) my camera's photos won't load on this site. I have a Valley ZD5 6.5 foot bar table right beside her. Best pool room in town.

My table was redone as shown on this webpage
www.padrick.net/Pool/Tim'sRoom.htm
The table looks really nice in black.
