Why are they so hard? I was just watching an old video of the Mosconi Cup from back around 2001 and when balls would hit the facings on the side pockets you could clearly hear it. My Gold Crown IV is the same way.

Why are they so hard, and why wont they accept balls?

Because the facings that brunswick uses are like old tire tread...
Diamond billiards made the rite choice on their facings because the diamond tables are designed by players and mechanics.

If you want to go with a premium set of facings I always have sets in stock @15.99 shipped for the 3/16ths facings.
