I have some Gandys and some Gold Crowns for sale. If you were the one breaking them down for storage, how far should they be broken down? Should the rails be taken apart and marked? Curious as to the mechanics' opinion on this.

I guess it depends how much room you have. Ideally I would like to keep them together just because its easier to set them back up. Leave the Gandy's together as much as possible. I remember installing those brand new... What a pain! There were just so many small parts. The Big G was a good table though. Where are you located?

I'm with poolschool on this one, but one more thing to consider. If you're going to stand the rails on edge for storage, take a 1 x 4, drill out the ends to match the rail bolt holes closest to the side pockets, then bolt the board to the underside of the rails. I guess you could use wood screws too if you like. This will stop the unsupported top side rail from sagging under its own weight while standing on its side during storage. Make sure you stand the slate on edge, do not lay them down flat, as they will over time, conform to the lay of the floor.

I always group, package, and mark fasteners. Nothing worse than a box full of bolts, screws, etc. and the ensuing head scratching. It goes without saying all parts should be marked for position.

Marked and kept together so that they don't get lost. I can't tell you how many homes I have been to and they can't find hardware etc... Good luck cuedog I hope everything goes well...

I am embarrassed to admit it but I forgot I posted this until I was looking back at some of my old posts.

Thanks to everyone that responded. I used the recommendations that were new to me and did those things that you guys said that were already familiar to me.

Thanks again!

Gene

PS I am located in Delaware and I am showing the Gandy's tomorrow. I may be holding on to the Crowns for now. I really haven't decided.
