Gold Flake and Refinish Options??

In my opinion the best thing to do is to omit the gold flake.
If you choose to do it, some flake can be added to your coat of clear but I wouldn't use it on the top coat.
Example, first coat just plain clear, because your first coat will show you any flaws in the wood grain.
your next spray session, add the flake, light coats this session, you don't want the flake to dominate the cue.
Last session just clear.
