Hi all,

Wonder if anyone here has a good leather tip to recommend for jumping? Tried the Tiger J/B leather tip(not icebreaker) works well for long distance jumps but not on closer ones.

Thanks!

what do u consider a close jump? the cue may have alot to do with it....but a hard water buffalo tip jumps great. u wont be dissapointed. but it has to be done right of course...i have never tried your tiger tip
have u jumped close with any other cues?

If you want one for close jumps then it needs to be a super thin compressed tip or a treated tip. You can't get away from needing the tip to be almost as hard as the ball to do the close jump shots.

On one of my test jump cues I used a compressed water buffalo tip that I took down to almost nothing. It worked almost as well as our leather/phenolic mixture tips.

Say the distance between the cueball and the obstacle ball is around 1 and a half ball? I'm using a J&J jumpbreak. I do like the control I have using leather tips on the break but I do need to break the cue down to jump.

Looks like it would work to me. I think that you will find that if your stroke is good that with this tip you will be able to jump a ball's width consistently.

I agreed with the hard water buffalo for jumps, It allows for more control re back spin or side spin. To me is better than phenollic b/c it allows some control...keep it very low and it should be good both for breaks and jumps.
In the tour it was used quite often with good results, just chalk often
Good luck
