Good Place to Play in San Antonio?

I'm in San Antonio and need to kill some time Friday afternoon after checking out of my hotel and before leaving town. I'm hoping someone in the area can recommend a good room to shoot some cheap pool.

I'm near the AT&T Center and need to stay about 15 minutes from there. Google search pulled up a couple of places, including Banana's on San Pedro Ave and Fast Eddie's (which I guess is now Eddy's Tavern) on Perrin Beitel. Does anyone know anything about these rooms, or have a better one they would recommend?

I was able to find out the rate at Eddy's Tavern is $5 flat, which is about what I was hoping, and I can't get a call to go through at Banana's. I'll probably end up at Eddy's since I know they are open and the rate is right. Unless I hear something better from the forum.

Thanks for the help, guys.

Better tables at Eddy's but might not be too many people there on Friday afternoon. Bunch of 8 footers and 1 10 footer. Bananana's is old school. couple of 9 footers and a some 8 footers. Banana's is where the old school goes; lots of 1 pocket and some action if you're looking for it. Eddy's not so much but ok enough to practice on it. Its called Eddy's Tavern and Billards but really is just one of the Fast Eddie's in town. Friday afternoon is kind of rough; you know pool players; they are like vampires they don't come out until the sun is way down. If I was off I would shoot around with you. Good luck

Also meant to add there really aren't anymore pool halls on that side of town; just small bars with barboxes. Those are your two bets if you're looking to stay reasonably close to ATT center.

Thanks Houstoer. I'm really looking more for practice to kill a couple of hours rather than a game. I try to stay away from $$$ while on the road anyway - you never know who you might meet :)

I'll be killing a couple of hours at Eddy's I guess. One thing I forgot is San Antonio is apparently still a smoking town. I've gotten spoiled to a non-smoking room (Austin) and I'm hoping I can handle the smoke again.

San Antonio is not a smoking town. they dont smoke in Eddy's. You have to go outside. There are a few bars in the burbs that aren't officially in San Antonio so they can have smoking but all the bigger pool halls here are non smoking. The riverwalk is different they have a waiver to smoke. Good luck
