Good pool hall near the Las Vegas strip

I'll be in Vegas for a few days for a trade show at The Paris resort and would like to unwind with a little pool practice in the evening. But I don't want to spend a fortune on taxis so I'd like to keep it close to the hotel if possible.

Not looking action (I'm a beginner), just a nice place to shoot some balls.

Any recommendations?
 
The two closest rooms are Best Billiards which is east of the strip on Flamingo about 4 miles off the strip, and Cue Club which is east of the strip on Sahara and is about a mile off the strip but a mile or two north of Paris. Paris is right off Flamingo so a taxi ride to either one should be about the same. I recommend Best Billiards, hands down the nicest room in Vegas, Diamond 7 and 9 footers in excellent shape, very clean and a nice crowd. Cue club has Gold Crowns and Valleys in terrible shape last time I was there in April although I heard they had their tables done right after that. Rowdier, banger crowd for the most part but it's huge.
 
I took a taxi from Bally's to Best Billiards last summer (2011) and it was around $15 one way. (I don't take cabs very often so I have very little reference, but to me that's expensive for 4 miles.)

Great room, though. I would have gone back this year but every evening when I was finally free, I was too tired to make the trip worth the money.

Closest room to Paris is Pool Sharks. 3650 S. Decatur near Spring Mountain. 2.9 Miles away. Flamingo west to Decatur. North on Decatur. A few Diamonds (big and small), GC III's and Valleys.

Best is at 3740 E. Flamingo at Sand Hill. Also recommended. 5 miles away. East on Flamingo to Sand Hill.

Las Vegas Cue Club is near the North end of The Strip at 953 E. Sahara. Take LV Blvd North (or Paradise Rd) to E. Sahara. Don't let the driver take you via Route 15. Double the cost.

Mickey's Cue and Brew is a bit further. Somewhat Southeast at 7830 S. Eastern at Warm Springs. About 7 miles from Paris.

Almost forgot. Rum Runners at 1801 E. Tropicana. About 3 miles. Five or six Small Diamond tables. Might want to call first. Big league house. 702 736 6366.

Just a thought: cabs are expensive in Vegas -- one round trip a day and you've covered the cost of a rental.

In any case, your best bet by far is Best Billiards.

I also rent cars in Vegas. Parking is free so you'll probably break even at worse.

There's a reason why it's called Best Billiards. Sharks is an average style room with some bangers and some players. The Cue Club is mediocre at best. Rum Runner's is a decent bar open 24 hours with a good crowd.

Best Billards is my favorite. Was in Vegas last year december, and enjoyed it. Cool crowd ,good Diamond tables and some good players there
