Your descriptions need clarification. Something can be flashy and still straightforward. And what do you mean by functional? That is provides information on the Home page without too many links or that it is interactive? Be more specific please.

OK.
Perhaps I should just ask for examples of good poolroom websites, and leave it to the responder to define good how he or she chooses.
But to me if the main appeal of a site is an animation of Bart Simpson doing a trick shot to the sounds of "Trouble in River City," then I'm not so interested.
I think if the web site looks professional, that's good.
If the web site has good easily navigable information about leagues, tournaments, arranging private functions, lessons, equipment, menu, etc, that's good
If the website has pictures that make the environment look fun and welcoming to new blood, that's good.
If the website has changing content that bring people back to it, like league schedules and results, tournament calendar, tournament resulty, player standings, etc, that's good.
If the website is successfully interactive as in signing people up for tournaments or leagues, etc, that's good
And there may be any of a number of "good" features I'm not aware of.
I'm looking for ideas about what makes a good poolroom website.
