Gorgeous cues Instagram page

First, thanks for the nice comments where I was concerned.

I have really enjoyed AZ and learned quite a bit in many areas. I will also say that I have met many truly fine people. Some I feel I know from posts and exchanges here, many from regular telephone conversations, and some from visits to my home on their trips to Florida.

It makes me regret that since 1963 I have been in and out of pool numerous times for various reasons. However, never due to lack of interest. Between BUSINESS, golf, Skeet/Sporting clays...pistol and rifle shooting, there was only so much time. Then health issues. I have had a number of health issues in the last decade and since 2011, cue collecting kept me involved and close. It also explains why many of my cues are unhit or lite play as ther is only so much time. I gravitate to my standbys. In shooting, beware of the guy with only 1 gun.:)

I have noticed a change in AZ and would like to see more activity like in the past in the Cue & Case Gallery and the Wanted/For Sale sections. My intent going forward is to try to photo all my cues (which now is 31-33)? Hopefully they will bring some enjoyment to enthusiasts. AZ should be our primary home and other venues simply extentions there of.

To Paul's point, the gallery also brings exposure. If someone wants something, they can get an idea of who has what. In this manner, I have acquired many of the cues in my collection. As example, a guy advertises a nice cue...I have contacted them and said, "I am not interested in the cue you are selling but how about the other one you posted by XZY".

Finally, Matt, I had the perfect Hercek for you and before I realized how bad you wanted one, I traded it in a deal to LITTLE KENNY. He sayed at my house and had a "must have for me" Barry. If you go back in the gallery, I posted it, BRW hoppe, ivory joint, a few inlays. Herceks play outstnding and are impeckably made. I do sell cues from time to time but it is generally from people knowing what I have and making contact. I have mostly traded. I ONLY TRADE UP because I collect and do not flip so to speak.

You will note in my other hobbies and distractions above, I did not list photography. I have vowed to improve and plan to use my wife's camera. I have 6-7 monsters acquired in the last 18 months, that I have never shown. So much for the dead market over $10 k as discussed in another thread :grin-square:

My final thought is that I never make a negative comment or disparaging remark about a detail on a cue. I believe it is not a place for judgement of short comings. No comment is a strong comment. If I post a cue and only get 6-7 comments, it is a bad feeling. If I like a cue I try to reinfore the owners decisions with positive. We all know who is active in the gallery and if there is no comment by a active member you have to wonder, does so and so like the cue?

all the best,
Phil

When I get down to Boca Raton one of these days to visit with my friend Bob Manzino, I’ll be sure to let you know. All three of us need to get together.

I see we have shared similar pastimes and hobbies. Trap shooting and fine shotguns were big in my younger days. And yes, while I don’t post much of my collection here, on those few occasions I have, I am always happy to see Phil Dade post up a comment or two. I truly hope you can keep most of your cue collection for as long as you can. I know we have talked about this recently. Guys like you make collecting fun.

Gosh, I hadn't read anything about the ivory ban challenge in CA being tossed out by the Court or really
any type of update. Well. just means I gotta get myself to a out of town cue show to browse. Therein lies
the rub in that I could go to the next cue show in Las Vegas and with my luck the pickings might be slim.
So if that were the case and I returned home empty handed, rest assured at the very next show there
would be ample Hercek cues to choose from. When you browse via the Internet, you get to spot cues
that weren't there last month or last week or even yesterday but when you attend a cue show, it essentially
becomes frozen in time. You see the cues that are there at that moment rather than the cues acquired by
exhibitors days or weeks later. So it becomes a hit ot miss proposition like attending estate sales. Oh well,
Obladi Oblada.........maybe skins and I will become best pals someday and I can get him to part with his Szam
.........fat chance of that happening....not the becoming pals part but the one he owns is a cue you seldom encounter..

The Forum needs to regain the pep in its step that's been lost and maybe 2017 will be the start. And it's easy to
write or say nice things about other Azers when it's true and so self-evident as well.
