The Duya event creators in China just announced season 2 of the "King of Kings. The winner gets $300,000 and total prize fund is almost $1.5 million. Even the last-place finishers get a minimum of $7,000 plus. Enough to cover expenses.

Twenty-two participants, among them ... Fedor Gorst, Johann Chua and the Ko brothers.

No date set yet. Looks like an extended tournament that requires the champ to win a few hundred games.

Their scoring structure REALLY favors the guys who can run out the whole rack. It's not just about winning games. Gorst should fare well if he can get used to that cloth.

Gorst comes from Russian Billiards (Pyramid), same cloth, bigger table, small pockets and bigger balls.
He should be able to adjust quite fast

yea, when he was 10 years old..

i assume this is international players only? if not he'll get torched

ok i bothered to click the link. all the chinese monsters playing. he has no chance
He will earn over $7000 if he finishes last (3 days of work)
Only expense is plain ticket, the organizers pay for everything else.
That's a better chance than any WNT event to earn $7000

Russian pyramid seems to have flat pocket facings (like pool) not rounded (like Chinese and snooker). Also seems to have pointed rails, not square rails.

So there are some key differences. Fedor will hopefully get time to practice and adjust.

Got to wonder where all the money is coming from and if it can last. Attendance and viewership probably aren't paying the bills.

If Saudi Arabia thinks pool events cost too much money, the Chinese govt, if it is involved, will eventually draw the same conclusion. Chinese teams used to pay big money to attract foreign soccer players, but they have cut back a lot.

It's not even clear if he has to pay for the plane ticket. Could be that everything is paid for.

A buddy of mine in China told me the viewership numbers are huge on their Chinese streams. Like Pagulayan was playing a money match with a Chinese guy and they had 50,000 viewers.

I’m not sure what the numbers were for the huge one Wu won, but gotta be 6 or 7 figures. That buys a lot of sponsorship money!
