Have questions before I start a rebuild, I hope some of you can answer. First of all, I would like to thank everyone who answered all the questions I have had so far.. I am sure I will have more as I go along, but here goes.

Does anyone know what veneer was used on the GC III? I need to replace some (hopefully not all) on the legs. Also the thickness of the veneer as I measure it as .027"

Mine does not have the feet, so does anyone know what the diameter they were? 6" maybe. And what most people would recommend for aftermarket?

Thanks again, and I rely think I want to stay with the wood stained and veneer look...

classic billiards has feet.
 
I am thinking that it is a plywood with a Mahogany veneer with solid poplar ends. May be able to removr the plywood and replace them. That would be easy enough, right.

Mine maybe as well. I am not expert on the grain of trees. That is why I was asking if anyone knew the veneer they used for the legs. I also read somewhere on here that these tables were kitted together once an order came in kind of piece meal say to speak. I don't know, but I am looking at this table and it has head rail stamped on two head rails!i it also has two right hand rails that both jabs the side pocket and corner pockets cut the same. Good think they are swappable.
 
They were kitted together and not constructed as an assembly. Not likely the factory would have done that but most likely rails were swapped; intentionally or not. It could have been the table was in a pool hall and when they recovered the tables, they did the rails from all tables at once and just bolted what ever rails to whatever table during reassembly.

Wow, that seems kinda odd, I believe the ends of my pedestals were Poplar and the plywood in the center was most likely Maple. It becomes readily apparent when staining, Poplar sucks up the stain and can easily get too dark if not careful where the Maple its seems all of the stain you put on just wipes away due to it being so much harder/tight grained/closed grained, whatever the proper term is. My GCI was definitely all original, privately bought new and owned its entire life in someones residence.

B'wick was notorious for using whatever parts were in the warehouse. Early 3's used leftover stouter(end sills between the side beams) 1/2 frames, early 4's had later 3 frames(end sills attached to ends of side beams) until the new beefier one was avail.
 
Has anyone had any luck having the corner castings replated? The one's on the table I bought look pretty bad and I heard powder coating was hit and miss so too speak. I like the bronze look better also.

I had to replace the support (mounting) blocks for all but the ball box rail. Still need to replace the cushions before leveling and instaling the felt.

Was talking to a table mechanic about possibly doing the cushions and felt. He was saying that I would need to run the rails through a track saw to ensure they were smooth prior to installing the cushions. Really? I just removed the old cushions cleaned and then lightly sanded down to the wood. Everything feels smooth with no gouges or dips along the surface. Of course he had not seen them and we were just talking over the phone. It just seams as if he was already trying to up sale the job in my mind. What should this service roughly cost? I would have to take the rails to him,and he would complete the job when finished with the rails. He is about one hour travel time from me.
