Ah, so you bought Nick's cue.....congrats, that's a beauty !!

Thanks ! I had to before some one else did :) , it is amazing the pics dont do it justice, ive owned a zillion cues over the years and without a doubt this is my all time favorite, of any cue i have ever seen, I have never ever seen a cue I like as much as this one. Its just the right balance of inlays/wood/the wrap is amazing/the color contrast is perfect, sometimes you see a cue that the brown tones cancel each other out-in this cue they all work together perfectly, the chain links are perfect.

I agree....the balance of the work throughout that cue is perfect. Would love to see it in person sometime. Pics never seem do a cue with brown tones any justice.

You mentioned everything but how it plays!

i will know how it plays in a few hours, my back has finally started to feel good after 3 days of hell, so in a couple hours i'm going to play, i'll start with a cue I'm familiar with for 10-15 minutes and see how the day is going and warm up, then play the rest of the time with the new cue, this will give me more insight to how I like it, i can adjust to most cues quickly. I awalys do this with a cue I plan on using alot-because if i'm not hitting the balls good with something i'm familiar with it isnt a fair way to judge a new cue that I plan on playing with, If I buy a cue that I might keep then I just play with it right away. Another good thing is I have been pocketing balls very good lately-considering my back-which is good when you get a new cue, when your in a slump its not a fair way to judge a new cue, over the past 20 plus years I have had about 5 cues that I played with full time, I plan on this being one of them.

I put it together and I am 99% positive it will be spot on, I like everything about it, the balance point is great, the shaft taper is right, and the weight too. I'll report back tonight. Even if the 1% chance i dont like it happend its still a cue that I will keep forever-its the best looking cue I have ever seen. i'm excited to go play.

when I saw it I was in Germany and bought it on the spot, I didnt hesitate for 1 minute, I liked it that much. I closed the deal as fast as possible. I have been buying alot of cues recently-I sold a big watch and am putting the $$ into cues, if the guys out there know that and get greedy-game over for them, i'm a sharp self made guy and some guys price them selfs out of a deal, pigs get fat hogs get slaughtered. I'm not in any hurry when I see something I like thats priced right i'm in action otherwise I'm not, I like that rose wood Gus with the barbells but not for 75K never in this life. Too bad it isnt priced right.

Fatboy, while I appreciate the candor, we have a saying, if you can find another one cheaper, buy it. You an I both know that cue prices are predicated on a plethora of reasoning. I have seen this cue in person and can assure you that you will not be finding anything like this available for a long time. It's condition is impeccable, the provenance is perfect. Is it worth 75k or the BB3 value of 55k? It's relative to the person that has to have it. There has been offers very close to the BB value and it's not been moved. As I mentioned in a previous thread, the cue is not aesthetically for everyone. I wouldn't buy it because personally, I like points and inlays. This floating stuff is really nice, but its not my style, unless its ivory into ebony. But if someone wanted something rare, original, rosewood and with lot's of pearl and veneering, then this is their cue.

i'm a very nice guy and am polite 99% of the time, i made a bad post and for that i accept the responsibility and am sorry, i respect the price of the cue and you, no doubt about that, i just believe that the asking price is a bit high thats all, your are in biz to make $$ and deserve to, as we all do weather we work for ourselfs or someone else, I'm not knocking your business model or you, Your correct "find another one" I wouldnt know where to start, the cue is a masterpiece-no doubt about it. I dont know what your bottom price is, perhaps if I knew I'd be in action, if its $75 then to ME is is too high but I'm only one potential customer, also i just am not feeling it with that cue, but for someone who is 75 will be a deal.

I appologise for comming off hard or knocking your business, that wasnt my intention at all-i was just expressing that for me the price for the cue is high because i'm not into that cue, and didnt make that clear.

all tought we havent done business, if some one asked me about your business I would say good things, sell period,

I was 100% out of line and please accept this public appology,

i'm very sorry for my previous post.

Fatboy,
No apology necessary. I didn't take it as a swipe and you most certainly are allowed your opinions. If I had a dollar for every time I hear a cue price is high, then I would be able to buy that cue. But as I said, its not for me either, so we agree. I respect your love for these types of cues, and I want you to know I respect your opinions on classic cues. I don't want you to think I took it as an attack, I certainly didn't.

it did need an apology, its your business and saying something negitative about another mans business is not right, you work hard doing what you do and for me to say that the WAY i did was wrong,

i should have said that cue for me isnt worth 75K but for the right buyer it is, that way i'm expressing my beliefs not implying you charge too much for your goods, i was wrong and when I am i awalys take my licks-i never dodge responsibility. again i'm sorry, it wont happen again,

best regards,

fatboy

I remember the first time I saw this cue. I absolutely fell in love! This is definitely one of the cues that inspired the design of my James White that's in progress. Congratulations on the acquisition, it's definitely my favorite Barry Szamboti cue of all time!
