got questions on making a table heavier?

im about 2 days away from finishing up my basement poolroom project and have a question. I got a good deal on a brunswick hawthorne table, its my understanding it has the gc bumpers and slate......but its a home table. As we were moving the frame, my friend said its going to sway some (like when someone big leans against it making a stretch shot)......its got 4 big square legs with boards connecting them. The legs are hollow, i was wondering if it would make sense or help to fill them up with something, i was thinking either metal washers or maybe even pennies, it might be cheaper. It would make the base heavier but i dont know if it would make it more solid. Also, has anyone ever put a table on that wood flooring that comes in planks and it has a rubber backing, you just lay the pieces together and they interlock, no glue........i was wondering if the weight of a table would cause them to shift. thanks

It is not a question of making it heavier, it must be make stiffer. Try added corner brackets, or diagonal bracing the frame and the legs. You easier do this with some 2" angle iron from lowes, or homedepot...just drill the holes for the screws and bolt it on.

I have a home table, the the legs are attached with machine bolts, washers and nuts. From years of use, the holes in the wood have elongated, and lean on it, it moves. I haven't stiffened it yet, but I have plans too.

even with that small little frame that it has, unless the holes where the legs bolt through have worn out a little, the table shouldn't sway. I have installed many of those, both used and new and have never had such problems. The only way I see it being an issue is if the previous installer did not use the two extra cross support boards that bolt just inside the end of the frame and to the legs. However, as posted above, you could add some corner bracing.

it has all the cross members and stuff so im hoping it will be ok, i was just thinking while the table was apart and before the mechanic comes and puts the cloth on it I would do any tweaking on it now while its easy........ok thanks guys
