Thanks for the kinds works Bob. Déjà vu is what it is, I see myself in these kids 50 + years ago, hanging out at the Boys Club, having fun, and learning to play pool.

Most of the kids are not well off by any standards, the Clubs survive on donations, and honestly I see no better place to send unwanted pool items.

Just received another Cue for the Boy & Girls Club in the mail today, a Kiaser Southwest Style Cue with (2) Shafts, it was sent by Forum Member Pii. :thumbup:

Got to say a BIG THANK YOU to Pii, as the Cue will get delivered this afternoon with some Rack, and a couple of other Cues people in the West Part of the Valley of the Sun donated.:clapping:

Actually there are 12 Clubs in the Phoenix Metro Area, and they all have Pool Tables. Don't think these kids know about HUSTLING POOL, but they seem to enjoy playing Pool.

Think some may like me leave the Boys, and Girls Club and continue playing the game another 50 years like you know who.:wink:

Some may event decide to join a league, or play in a local tourney later in life after they are 21.

Think the Boys and Girls Club today is doing what the Boys Club did 50 years ago when I was a member. It gives kids a place to go after school, enjoy sports, pool, baseball, football, and other activities that keep today kids out of gang, hopefully off drugs, for the reasonable price of a membership..

Honestly with 12 Club in the Phoenix Metro Area the need for Cues, Chalk, Bridge Heads is LARGE, and sadly I see non of the group like BCA, ACS, APA, etc. stand up and helping with their future members.
 
I was actually thinking about doing something like this in my rural area. the kids here seem to get into lots of trouble because there is simply notihng else to do. There are no realy clubs set up already..............does the city or county help to fund such ventures if it helps the local youths?
You're doing a great thing, keep up the good work! I'll make sure to spread the word for certain!

Think there are Boys, and Girls Clubs in most major areas, check the <<<---LINK I put to the right to see if there is one near you.

If not maybe you can get you City Parks & Recreation Department to put in a Pool Table if you can fine one someone wishes to donate, it would be the start of something great for the kids where you live.

Just got home from the Boys, and Girls Club, was dropping off 4 Cues, a Case, Chalk, and as I said there is still a need for a lot of stuff as we have 12 Clubs in the Phoenix Metro Area all with a minimum if (1) Pool Table or or more.
 
Well I have been gone a week on vacation

Came home to find (2) Instructional DVD, sent me by Member-pool101:smile:, they sent their Basic Pool 101 Course that should be a big hit, and help to the kids at the Boys & Girls Club here in the West Valley.:thumbup:

Should have the DVD's over to the Boys & Girls Club next week along with some other things I am expecting from a few other AZB Members.:thumbup:

I am still trying to fill the WISH LIST from the Boys & Girls Club that is explained in this wish list from the Executive Director:

I finally heard back from the majority of our clubs. Yes! We are in need of some supplies/equipment. Here’s what I have:

Cues – 15
“Children’s” cues – 10
Bridge heads – 18 (one for each club and each teen center)
Ball sets – 2
Cue tips – As many as can be provided. We tend to go through these quite a bit.
Chalk – Always in need. Whatever can be provided.
Instruction DVD’s – 18 (one for each club and teen center)

Miscellaneous – one 8 ft. pool table cover; one cue stick holder that can be mounted to a wall.

I am really glad that that set of balls has found a new home...

I have tried to donate pool related things (and time) in the past to the local B&G Club but I pretty much got the Heisman for my efforts...

I think Bruce should be applauded for taking the initiative and coordinating a great effort for a worthy cause...

I am only the middleman, & with out the GENEROSITY of the MemberS of this Forum this project would have died long ago. It is people like you McKinneyMiner who makes this train run, I am only the engineer.

Funny thing is all of the help, and donation for the Phoenix Area Boy & Girls Club seem to be coming from out of Arizona with the exception of the Senior player where I live.

The people of Arizona who talk the loudest about supporting Pool on this Forum have done ZIP for a GOOD CAUSE in their own back yard.:mad:

Well CHALK is a Big NEED with 12 Club Sites in the Phoenix Metro Area they never have enough CHALK.

When I first west to the Club in the West Valley, I asked where is the CHALK when they were showing me around. The REPLY was WE HAVE HAD NO CHALK in 6 MONTHS.

Well I got about 3 Dozen Cubes to that Club, and the other 11 site are hurting for CHALK.

When I got the latest WISH LIST CHALK WAS MENTIONED.
