Graphite - Fiberglass

Has any of you ever seen that smooth stuff on a graphite or fiberglass cue? It slides right through your hand. After a few months that smoothness goes away..is that cause it wares off or because it needs to be cleaned with something like cue silk for graphite cues??

My break cue has that same coating on the shaft and it wore out after a few months. Now it sticks to my fingers and it gets very difficult to break well (impossible to play with). I use a shaft cleaner/finish but it goes away quickly. The bottles keep breaking and leaking on me, too.

I asked a gentleman at the cuetec vendor selling the same cue and he seemed to believe that it never comes off and that I was doing something wrong for it to wear out. Finally I got fed up and actually used a very fine sandpaper on it. I'm sure I'm not supposed to, but it was like brand new again.

I used the sandpaper as a last resort, because I felt like not using the cue anymore. A glove might work well but I haven't tried it. Let me know if you have any good ideas.

So you're saying that you actually used sand paper on a graphite cue? And it worked? I was thinking of resorting to that if I didnt get a clear answer of what might be happening. Hmmmmmm, maybe I'll try that out. :)

I used to have a fiberglass stick that did that
but my graphite stick is as smooth as when
I bought it 6 years ago???
