I posted this game before, but I refined it a little bit. It really is an excellent game for producing more run outs. It makes practice fun and a good way to tell if you're getting better. Here goes:

Basically you play 10 frames of 9 ball. With every ball you miss 1 point gets added to your score. The goal is to get the lowest score possible.
When you break, make a ball and have shape on the lowest ball on the table, you start that rack at minus 1 point. If you break and don't make a ball or you don't have shape on the lowest ball on the table you can have ball in hand, but you then start your score at zero points for that frame. If you make the 9 ball on the break, score that frame as minus 1 point and go on to the next rack.

Let say you miss the 3 ball during a frame, you add a point to your score and you go on to the 4 ball. When you run out to the 9 ball the next ball you shoot is the 3 ball you missed earlier. You might have 2 or 3 balls that you have to run in rotation after the 9 ball. If you have to make a 2-5 combo your next ball you shoot is the 2 ball. You HAVE to play shape on the next ball.
If you make a combination on the 9 ball you go on to the next frame and add the score you have at that point. If you foul, add a point to your total and you have cue ball in hand.
Perfect score: minus 10

Interesting and worth a try. TY. Two Q's.

If you make nothing on the break, do you take BIH if your shape can be improved. Ex. You have a shot on the one, but it's tough.

I assume you'd get a minus one on any frame if you ran out from a dry break? Or zero? Not clear to me.

Good question. You always have an option to have ball in hand after the break but you will not start with minus 1. You have to make a ball and take the shape to receive the bonus of minus 1.
This game really keeps you focused.
