Great Advice from The Iceman

The 'Dan-Tien' is otherwise known as the 'center of power' and is the exact same thing we teach everyday in TaeKwon-Do. Proper breathing is one of those basic fundamentals that is often overlooked.

great advice indeed!

Mika just recently posted this to his blog

There is some really good advice coming from a World Champion.

It looks like he is taking his month off from traveling and puting it to good use by focusing, getting back in shape and sharing his knowledge of all parts of the game with his fans and friends.

He is gonna be dangerous again in 2010.

Great information! Breathing is indeed the way to control the "thermometer". Deep full lung breathing will calm us, on the other hand if we are feeling a little flat-footed shallow quick breathing will ratchet up the tension in our bodies and minds a little. I find both useful. We can all discover our personal tension level we operate best at and then use breathing and visualization to fine tune to that level.

This was a great post..the breathing from the lower abdomen or Dan-Tien is something that is practiced in QI-Gong which means breath work. Tang -Soo-Do is the traditional art form of Tai-Kwon-Do which was developed so Tang -Soo Do artists could compete. Now with tradition all but lost, Qi-Gong is one of the last un-changed forms. Though evolving , it's purpose is like a slow moving meditation with deep abdominal breathing.
