well it is now 1:45 and i just got in from the 1st day of this great tournament. This tournament stop drew a field of 54 players. Such notables as Dennis Hatch, Danny "Kid Delicious" Basavich, last years winner Dave Pinkton, (who also posts on here) Danny Hewitt came down from Canada. Lets not forget Mike Zuglan and Tim Parisian who are both undefeated as is Mr Hewitt.. I know a great time was had by all that attended today. Rocco Spinelli (the owner) and his great family sure do put on a great show and always has great food. Got to see some old friends and meet some new ones....
Finally got to meet Liz Ford who posts on this board. What a great player she is and going to be. great out going personality to boot. Good luck Liz in San Diego.
Got to see Mike Webb from Webb Custom cues. Always a pleasure Mike. Hope to talk with you before Turning Stone about the cue we discussed.
Got to chat briefly with Kid Delicious about the movie. Danny tells me that it is still a go and that the studio rejected the 1st script and now a couple of writers associated with Tom Hanks production company are doing a rewrite on the script. Danny also tells me that he is coming along fine health wise. Does not have all of his energy back yet but says that he is finally eating healthy...Keep up the good work Danny. He has lost about 30 pounds so far..And you are looking good. You are far to young and good a pool player to leave us early.
So anyway..... play resumes tomorrow at noon as they are down to the final 8 players. And if memory serves me, 1st place is worth $1,900.00...Not bad for a weekends work.....................mike
