Great one pocket match

I watch a lot of Accu-stats DVDs but this was the first time I was driven to come on the forums and encourage others to watch a particular match.

I just finished watching the 2006 Derby City one pocket matches between Alex Pagulayan and Efren Reyes, followed by Reyes vs Jason Miller. They are the semi finals and finals match of one pocket for that year and are on one DVD.

Efren put on a clinic, just running 8 and outs all over the place, getting some amazingly creative break outs and just shooting like a monster. There were also some great defensive battles, especially in the Alex vs Efren match, where they went back and forth with some defensive shots that had such control that they managed to tuck the cue ball into a tiny section of the table.

I just felt the need to share and hope you get the DVD and watch it, I am pumped after watching those matches.

Great match I felt like telling someone about this match also, after I watched it.

The way Efren played in those two matches might just be the finest One-Pocket ever played by a human, certainly the best ever recorded. Alex played great and had no chance. Miller, if I'm not mistaken, was the Bankpool champ when that match occurred and Efren just steamrolled him.

Do you remember what Efren shot here? I'm sure you do:)

That was my first year at the derby. I remember a friend calling to tell me the match was starting. I came down from the room and it was over in the time it took me to walk down there. Efren had put on a clinic.

One pocket Clinic by Reyes..2006 Derby semi and Finals

I have that DVD of One-pocket and it's a classic !! If you like one-pocket, this has to be a must watch, I rate it the best I've ever seen... Here is the listing from Accu-Stats- 2006 Derby One Pocket.....The semis and the Finals on the same DVD..D8-1P3d / again it's.. Alex vs Reyes & Miller vs Reyes......./ .just thought I would list the Name of the DVD, in case someone wants to purchase these matches from Accu-Stats.. Duke...

No way, man, that shot's way too hard. Cut the 10 firmly with a ton of inside English , take the cue ball two rails (long rail, short rail), come down table and run-out.

That's how Efren and I like to play it from there.

Not only are the semis and the finals classics, Alex & Efren played a match before that that was also very good.

Here's what Efren accomplished in these three matches with Alex and Miller.

In the 1st match with Alex:

Game 1- Efren runs 9 & out

Game 2- Efren runs 8 & out

Game 3- Alex runs 7 & out

Game 4- Efren runs 8 & out

In the semi-finals against Alex:

Game 2- Efren runs 7 & out

Game 3- Efren runs 8 & out

Game 4- Efren runs 9 & out

In the finals against Jason Miller:

Game 1- Efren runs 6 & out

Game 2- Efren runs 8 & out


In the 11 total games played against Alex and Miller, Efren ran the game out 6 times when he made a ball in his pocket.

I'm glad others appreciated watching this match as much as I did! I just couldn't get over the godlike play. That thin cut on the 10 ball that you pictured was a great shot, but when the cue ball hit the 2nd rail and just changed direction to head straight down table instead of going over to a third rail... I was as surprised as the commentators. Then later, when he spun the cue ball directly into the 7 ball in the pack to break it up and manufacture another shot, I had to turn down my speakers the commentators were yelling so loud. It was probably the most excited I've been watching a DVD.
 
Somebody needs to tell Effie that that 10 can not be cut in then.

So, what did he shoot after the 10? The striped combo?
 
2006 Derby Classic was the Greatest

I agree with Nine Baller the One Pocket Games were unbelievable.
I enjoyed all of the matches the final day.
Efren was awesome.

I won my first match of the One Pocket tournament by making a ball on the break and running eight and out.
I got Lucky..........grin :)

I do miss the Executive West.
Banks, One Pocket, Straight Pool, Billiards and the IPT 8 Ball.
Bugs into the One Pocket Hall of Fame....Great Dinner sat with Danny DiLiberto.

2006 Derby Classic had to be the best Derby EVER

Thanks for the tip. If you have time go to The Beards web site and look up the diagram of Bugs Rucker running 8 and out in One Pocket. The score was 7 to 0. Bugs made 4 one rail shots (3 long rail to pocket, 1 short rail to pocket), 3 two rail shote (1 short rail to long rail, 1 long rail to short rail and 1 long rail to long rail) and 1 three rail bank. This was the best shooting I have ever heard about.

When I first started playing 1 hole awhile back, one of our best players in the state gave me 10-7 and robbed me, I had no chance. I bought several video's with the top one hole players and would watch them for hours, went back and robbed him playing the same way a few weeks later. I can say, one can learn more watching one pocket video's than any other games. Its the only game you can jump a couple of balls by just watching.
