Great Pool/Snooker Spots in London or Tournaments?

What are some great places to play pool or snooker in London? And does anyone know of any local weeknight tournaments for Monday or Wednesday nights?

I visited London for the first time 3 yrs ago and stopped in here. Very nice equipment & friendly service. Unfortunately, I can't speak to any tournaments they might have, but I do recall they had 9 ft pool tables, 12 ft snooker tables, and some 7 ft english pool tables.

Just a word of warning though, the Hurricane Room does get very busy after 5pm, you are more likely to get a snooker table than pool table after then, before 5pm, you should be okay on anything (that said being December there may be a few office Christmas parties around).

Where are you staying btw OP, I may be able to suggest a few places nearby?

Wow, that place still exists? I used to go there in the 90s and catch up with the then great player, the legendary Steve Knight. Jimmy White used to show up too and practice with Steve. Glory days, gone but never forgotten.:)

It's had a couple of refurbs due to flooding, but yep it's still there :-)

I heard there was a huge pool scene there at it's peak, not sure it quite the same now, but they do still have regular tournaments (which is more than many places in London)!

Thank you! I checked out Hurricane and couldn't believe how many tables they had. It wasnt too far as I'm staying in Russell Square.

If you're staying there, then Kings Cross probably is the easiest/best place to get to. There is a Riley's in Haymarket, but I suspect it will be more tourist than palmer focused (I've not been there since Riley's took it over).

Hurricane room in Kings Cross is the place to play. Rileys in Victoria is an option but not much of a players room as it has the feel of a heartless corporate environment. Sadly there's no current weekly tournaments for American pool, different story if you want to play on the little english tables.

There's some good monthly tournaments run by SMB or Total9ball. If you look them up on FB you'll find them.

Rileys Victoria is great. tournament scene is pretty small though. It has several sam K-steel tables. Also 5 very good snooker tables (one tournament specs) Total 9 ball do good tournaments in st albans. Hurricane room kings cross has one brunswick gc (idk which number) and several k-steel tables. Also has several very good snooker tables.
Some good players at hurricane room, rileys is often more recreational.
