Last night I was grilling some chicken at my mothers when a truck drove up to look at a motorhome I'm trying to sell. It turns out it was a guy I knew 20 years ago. We started talking pool and I told him what I was doing with Perfect Aim.
He started asking me some questions so I just got out my bigger balls and just used the porch as a pool table and kind of gave him a mini lesson of Perfect Aim.
When I start this out I need to know which eye is dominant and he told me that he was left eyed. He shoots trap and said he shoots left handed even though he is right handed but he plays pool right handed.
Again he said he was left eye dominant.
I had him get down on the straight in shot and it appeared he was right eye dominant and I told him this. He disagreed with me and said he is deffinitely left eye dominant.
The next thing I do is show players how to make the non dominant eye work like the dominant eye by changing the position of the eyes.
When I had him move over to make the left eye the dominant eye he broke out into a great big smile. He said boy does that look good. He deffinitely was left eye dominant and has shot all these years forcing the right eye to work as the dominant eye not knowing the difference.
He couldn't wait to get to the bar and shoot some balls on the pool table. He called me up an hour later and was just estatic about his new discovery.
Many player have this same problem but don't even know it. Not to the extreme that Tim had but when they are shooting a shot that they are cutting the way of their non dominant eye they actually drift their head in the direction to make their non dominant eye the dominant eye by just a little bit. Some players alot and on different shots more than others and consistently.
This is why we have trouble aiming the same type of shots. Over and over and over.
The only players that don't suffer from this problem are the one eye wonders. The players that shoot with only one eye. Maybe one or 2 out of 100 players are like this.
