Just a quick post to let you know how much fun the Classic was this past week....It was great to meet you and I enjoyed getting to talk to you in between matches.....You had a great tournament and beat some of the best players....See ya next year....mike

Next year, go to bed and stay away from the Black Jack Tables :D

Mike,

It was totally cool meeting you too! Thanks for sweating my matches.....but I promise that next year I'll play better and you won't have to sweat so hard! I am glad also that you got to see Sarah play so well and get such a high finish. I look forward to coming back next year!

Melissa

PS. When the blackjack tables are being so kind, it's really really really hard to leave!!! Next year, I am going to have to pay someone to literally drag me away at a decent hour...LOL! :D

It sounds like you played pretty well. You beat some good players. You played well enough to keep your ranking anyway.

Isn't the next event in San Diego? Do you feel more comfortable playing closer to home?

Good luck to you and thanks for sharing your tourney experiences with the board.

Hey Wally,

I played OK for most of the event. I only played really well against Sueyen Rhee. Honestly, against Melissa Little, I would've liked to get a couple more rolls, and make a ball or two on the breaks so that I could get some momentum going. And against Laura Smith, well she just played close to perfect, only missing one ball that I can remember in the entire match. She did make a few position errors that forced her to play safeties, but I do believe she only missed one ball. So I don't feel too bad. I had a chance to win the first game, I made the 7-ball and scratched....and that really set the tone for the match. I never got started.

I do like playing closer to home, but not for "home-court advantage". Basically, it can be very tough adjusting to a new time zone. Mike M. mentioned earlier that I stayed up too late playing blackjack, but that all started because my body is used to PST, and I just couldn't go to sleep at a decent hour. So, when I stay on the west coast, I just feel better all around.

Thanks for all the support!

Melissa

Yeah I wouldn't feel bad at all losing to her. She's been playing great.

I never thought of that. Wow. That 11 a.m. match becomes an 8 a.m. match for you. That's too darn early to play pool :D

Thanks again Melissa. Take care and good luck.

Not only that, but we have to get up a couple of hours earlier to get ready, eat, and warm-up....so now we are getting up at 9AM...which is like 6 AM.....and that's just plain nuts! Now for the east coasters who come to the west coast, getting up early is easy...but those late round matches might be tiring....

By the way...we didn't think of this until Brian and I got back home from the Classsic...were those 8 or 9 foot Brunswicks that the tournament was played on? And do you know if they sold any of them...that was quite a table that was used on Sunday.....mike

Let us know if you ladies play anywhere close to here again....we wouldn't want to miss it.....

Those are 9-foot Brunswick Gold Crowns.....and the final table was the Manhattan model. They do not sell the tables after the tournament...they are shipped off to our next venue or back to Brunswick I believe. As for the finals table, Brunswick will be providing a different model for each tournament....and I think I heard that we might be using different colored cloth as well.

I am not familiar with that half of the country....so I don't know how far all the states are from each other (driving distance-wise), but I know that the next time we will be in the Southeast is when we go to Florida in the fall.
