Excuse my ignorance but please answer a question of mine if you don't mind. When a flyer for a pool tournament says that the entry fee includes the green fee, what does that mean?
Just for clarity...are you saying table time being included as opposed to putting in quarters...like on a barbox table? You don't mean table time during practice before the tournament?
The Greens Fee is the room owners way of recouping some of the revenue lost by not making the table open to the general public. Think of it as a rental fee for the duration of the tournament. Some tournaments list an Entry Fee + Greens Fee, others list it as included. Either way, it is a fee you are required to pay, if you want to play.
Wrong spot, but I'll give you the real answer. The green fee is for the owner to make money on tables that don't take quarters.
It's the way the room owner gets to steal back the money they add to a tournament. Sometimes the green fee will even double the added money. They like to put things like $500 added or $1000 added, but usually this is not really true.
