I don't use any shaft, with less than 9 grain lines to the inch, but the STRAIGHTNESS of the grain is more important to me than the actual number of lines...JER
Here again you have to talk about apples & apples. If your shaft has a big ol' hunk of brass in the end, it will weigh about 1/3 of an oz. more than one without the bushing. I use a 3/8-10 screw directly into the wood. I just weighed a finished 20 growth ring shaft & it weighed 3.85 oz.
