Guerra/Szam Cues a short story

Tony loves pool....He is very serious about everything he does....If he is making a cue he will put everything he has into that cue....That's just how he is....Dedicated is the word.....I wish Tony all the sucess for his dedication to pool and making cues...I'm sure his cues will be taking off real soon....

Hey Art,

Thanks for the kind comments Art.

Unfortunately I don't have a good local following, my fault for sure. Most likely because you do not see me much out there playing or you guys in Modesto don't like to come to Newman :D It's too far...
My cues have a good following already in the east coast, Arkansas, Louisiana, several Asian countries, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Only 2 cues that I am working on are finally going to 2 awesome local players in Sacramento.

I received my brazllian rosewood pj from Tony last month. They play really well
He is great in communication as well. Always showing me progress pictures.

Met Tony at Hard Times in Sac years ago. Saw his cues for the first time at that West Coast Cue Show in Mtn View last year and was very impressed- I really like beautiful woods and interesting ringwork, and I especially liked his enthusiasm and pride.

Later I developed a huge itch for a particular shaft diameter, taper, and butt size- but I couldn't find one like I wanted premade anywhere, and our local cuemaker has a years- long waiting list. I really prefer to buy as local as possible, though, so when I ran into Tony in Vegas, we talked about what I was looking for. He listened very carefully, and was genuinely interested in hearing what I wanted. I ended up giving him a deposit before leaving.

Since he's so clearly excited about materials and the beauty of the finished product, I figured I'd just give him the specifications of what I need to play with, and let the artist in him decide all of the wood choices and design ideas. It's a bit of a gamble, but isn't that a whole lot more fun?
