All of the items below are great, but they wont make a rocket ship out of a donkey. It is recommended to have your computer tuned up by a qualified computer technician at least every 6 months. Cost can range from $50-$100.

cCleaner is an easy way to keep your internet history cleaned out and running smooth. Light users can clean weekly. Heavy users should clean daily.

Adobe Flash bugs can cause flash to run poorly. If you are having video issues update your flash player.

As the quality of streams in the U.S. continues to improve, bandwidth needs continue to rise to enjoy these higher quality shows. Test your speed here. Dedicated internet connection should be minimum 2-5mb download for smooth viewing.

Internet Explorer uses a complicated platform which makes it difficult and expensive for ad-ons or extras to be built for it. We recommend Firefox or Chrome. These both allow you to easily add an ad blocker.

You may also pay an additional fee to eliminate advertisements on Ustream and Justin.tv. It's 3.50 per month for Ustream and Justin is $10

I've always been a little cautious about using any of the free software out there, to "tune-up" your computer but thanks for the info anyway.

Joey,

These are not random free software. They are tested tools that I have used for several years. You MAY send a donation to them if you like. :)

Smooth Streaming

Any good tricks for a Macbook. I don't have any problems normally, but this Turning Stone Steam is skipping bad. I've pulled up other live ustream events and they run fine it's just turning stone

Unfortunately I don't know of any. I am interested if you come up with any.

Maybe if you run Windows on it? Flip?

Must be some Mac users that watch streaming.

Thanks,

Ray

Top tips there Bigtruck, thanks.

My top tip: Vacuum your laptop! Yep, periodically switch it off and gently run the Hoover nozzle over all the vents as dust build-up over time can really slow things down. People laugh when I tell them , but when I show them, they are often impressed when the laptop regains it's youthful performance.

Hey Big Dave!! I hope that side of the pond is treating you right!!

I have a tower and I remove the covers and slide out all the screens for a thorough cleaning. I use compressed air mostly but will try the vacuum on my water cooler fan!

Thanks
