First off I'd like to thank Timberly (Thank You) for her tireless efforts and the time she put in for ALL of us towards the room. She actually did TOO much and put TOO much time in and she definately needs to just go to DCC and enjoy herself.
Then I'd like to thank Greg Sullivan, Diamond Billiards and the Executive West Hotel for allowing us this opportunity.
That being said I want to welcome back all of you from last year and also welcome the new members that decided to participate this year, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
The DCC is a non-stop action filled event and we have to play most things by ear and it's hard to plan and set things in stone but we do need to have some basic guidelines to follow so things go as smooth as possible.
Some guidelines would be:
(1) Table usage.....the only people that have use of the tables would be the members that contributed, Instructors and Pro's that have donated their time for us and others that we get to donate their time for us.
(2) Courtesy.....disrespect towards anyone in the room cannot be tolerated. This would include disputes towards Instuctors and Pro's that have donated their time for clinics or exhibitions for us. Questions are definately welcome (that's why they come) but arguements about a better way than theirs are not. Let them show what they know and enjoy what they do and whether or not you choose to use any new knowledge is up to you.
(3) Sleeping.....the room turned into a kind of sleeping quarters last year for a while but it can't happen this year. If you don't have a hotel room or some other place to sleep you need to make arrangements. I'm not saying someone can't/might not nod off in a chair for a bit (some of us ARE getting older) but don't bring in your sleeping bag and luggage to stay a few days.
(4) PLAYING POOL.....this is what we came for. Last year we had 1 table and we made the sets as followed:
8-ball to 2
9-ball to 3
banks to 2
one pocket to 2
straight pool to 35
this year we are very fortunate to have 2 tables which should keep things moving along real good and allow more people to play more often. It might be very possible to extend the races a little but we'll play it by ear as I mentioned earlier.
(5) Problems.....any problems that anyone has with something or someone should definately be brought to our attention. You can discreetly tell myself, Don or Timberly and if we need to speak to anyone about any kind of behavior it's been agreed on that I will be the one to handle it and I'll take care of it privately. No one else needs to know anything either way. Other than a couple of minor things last year everything went pretty well for the first time so we don't forsee any problems this year.
Things may be added, changed or deleted as they need to be because like I said before you pretty much have to play it by ear there. Most things will be posted on the board in the room so be sure to check out what's going on and when. I think Don (WBM) already mentioned that anyone is welcome to stop in and check it out but keep the playing privileges to the people that contributed.
If anything changes as far as people being able to contribute at DCC we'll let you know on this thread.........but as of Dec 15th the deadline has been over and any problems with it should be directed towards myself.
So just have fun and enjoy the madness that is DCC and looking forward to seeing you there.
