May be able to convince Shortman ( B.W.) to making a little trip jsut for the enjoyment!
Hope things are better since the strom Joey!
Well, we'd love to have had you, Patrick. I've enjoyed your posts over the years, and OPG tells me you're a right guy. Hopefully I'll get to meet you at the DCC.Patrick Johnson said:I don't go anywhere, but I was considering going to this one just for the chance to meet Joey and Doc and hear some Zappa road stories. Tubster, I can't believe you'd even consider passing up the second opportunity in three months to needle and harrass JoeyA!!! In fact, I bet Joey hasn't been under the Smorg lamp for several years.Smorgass Bored said:Well, the last time that I went to Gulfport, MS to play in a one-pocket tournament, was Grady's pool tournament and poker tournament. I went out in 11th place in the poker tournament and the remaining 10 players immediately chopped the prize pool $1,000 each.
In Grady's one socket event, I barely squeaked past 'bye' in the first round and then was knocked to the left side of the board by GULFPORT DOC and quickly illuminated by Larry Charbonnet.
I see that Doc and Larry are both in this tournament also and so are a dozen more that have always beat me. I did manage to pickup a few hundred from the rail at Grady's and if I find someone to ride with, I may make an appearance in November.
(you can never count me out, as long as I'm breathing) imo

They had one-pocket, 9 Ball and Banks.
Randi (Grady's wife) worked the desk/table just inside the front door. Buddy Hall was zooming around in one of those scooters for old people that can't walk. (He could get from the tournament area to the upper floor of the Grand Casino and the All-U-Can-Eat Buffet in under 2 minutes and was cutoff from the crab legs section after the second day)....
Doug
(I avoided being cutoff from the Buffet by putting all my steak, rib & chicken bones on JoeyA.'s plate when he wasn't looking)
*Grady was also at the Seniors Tournament (as was I) at Casino Magic in Biloxi, MS. I was also at the Senior's Tournaments in Tampa at Seminole Hardrock and in Naples, FL.
JoeyA. was at most of those too and always has a respectable showing (buy him in the calcutta and bid HIGH)
