One of my favorite movies that I've watched a number of times is "The Quick And The Dead" http://www.thequickandthedead.net/ If you've never seen the movie, click onto the site which has a super cast, and reminds me of what modern day shootists are doing with their pool cues. In the movie, a competition was held everyday at high noon against two gunfighters in an elimination match until there was just one person standing alive at the end.
It was great!!
I think we have the potential for a good gunfight at high noon right here. Oldhasbeen and Willeebetmore. The way I see it stacking up is that OHB really is an OHB, that's living in his past and resting on his laurels wanting to relive his old glory days. Hell, he gave up the game for many years and just recently picked up a cue to start playing again and he's already woofing to play a match with Willee that, personally, I don't think he can win any more than Evander Holyfield could even beat a middleweight. He might still be a decent 9 ball player, but that's nothing but connect the dots and most of the time you start out after the break really only playing 7 ball. Who can't do that?
Willee on the other hand, didn't have the years of playing for cash like OHB did, but he's come on quite strong in his later years, especially in 14.1. It's kind of like another poster on here by the name of Wayne who only took up the game 8 or 9 years ago and already has won a Pechauer NW event. That to me is really impressive, and I think Willee, who hasn't abused himself in early years with drugs while playing and whiskey nerves could handle himself very well in a 14.1 match with OHB. Now, he did say that he'd match up after finding out his schedule but not until next winter. Hey...who's going to even remeber by then? I think this should come off within the next month or so. We'll let them negotiate the money. Neither one is poor by any means.
I think this is a match that everyone wants to see and is very doable because of the proximity to each other. Hell, they could at least split the distance difference and meet half way, unless that's just an excuse.
There's no reason why a decent match can't be determined like mature gentlemen. I do think that Willee's request for a game to 200 with a 120 spot is waaaay out of hand. I could almost see this match going off at even because I'm just not sure about OHB. Anybody notice that he didn't belly up for the Drivermaker challenge? What say ye AZer's? Yay....or... Nay. I don't think there should be any weasling out by either one since it is quite reasonable, especially with Willee getting lessons from Danny D. and OHB being an OHB.
